Baner does not have a campus. The work here is stacked above the retail on Baner Road and along the Baner–Pashan Link Road: two floors of a commercial building, a coworking floor with a dozen logos on the door, a converted bungalow off Veerbhadra Nagar, a team of eleven on the fourth floor near Balewadi High Street. Compared with the Hinjawadi side of the city, the companies are smaller and the buyer is closer to the product — usually a founder, a head of product, or the one engineer who has been holding the whole stack together since launch. There is rarely a procurement process to survive; there is a conversation about whether the thing can actually be built.

What that mix asks for is fairly specific. A funded startup in Balewadi wants a first version in market before the next raise. A D2C brand off Sus Road has a storefront that works fine but no clean link between orders, the warehouse and the courier partners, so someone is reconciling shipments in a spreadsheet. A SaaS company on Baner Road already has customers and needs a second engineering push — multi-tenancy done properly, billing that does not leak, an API their own customers can build against. Aundh adds a slightly older commercial layer around DP Road and ITI Road: established services and consulting firms with internal systems that have quietly become load-bearing.

The corridor also competes hard for engineers. Baner and Balewadi sit between the Hinjawadi parks and the city, which is exactly why people want to live and work here — and why a five-person product team can spend six months trying to hire two seniors at rates set by companies with far deeper pockets. For a lot of buyers on this side of the bypass, the real question is not agency versus in-house; it is how to get senior engineering onto the roadmap this quarter without committing to headcount they cannot yet defend.

On travel: we are on the other side of the highway, not around the corner. From Ravet it is the Mumbai–Bangalore highway through Wakad, off at Balewadi Phata and up into Baner — usually half an hour, longer when Baner Phata and the Balewadi junction are backed up in the evening. The Aundh–Ravet road is the alternative when the highway is bad, and it lands closer to Aundh than to Baner. It is a practical drive, so we schedule on-site sessions mid-morning and keep the routine work on calls.
